POPLAR BLUFF, Mo. — Kirksville’s Barrett Morehead finished tied for seventh in a field of 89 at the 2009 Missouri Junior Amateur Golf Tournament last week.

Morehead shot an even par of 142 (71-71) in the two-round, 18-hole tournament at the Westwood Hills Country Club near Poplar Bluff July 7-8.

Morehead, who will be a senior at Kirksville High School next year, tied for 22nd in the 2008 Class 3 Missouri State High School Golf Meet. He finished in the top 40 at the 2008 Junior Amateur.

“I played really good,” Morehead said. “It was a big improvement, and a lot of the best golfers in Missouri were there.”
