Volley-Vikes Slip Past AC

Cass Midway High School

Tuesday, October 14, the Cass Midway volleyball teams played at Appleton City. The Lady Vikings won the JV and varsity matches. Appleton City won the JH "A" match, but Midway won the JH "B" match.

  Midway defeated Appleton City 26-24, 18-25, and 25-17 in the varsity match.

  Bree Renner had 9 kills and 4 blocks vs. AC. Shannon Carver had 8 kills and 5 blocks. Teresa Zielinski had 3 kills and 2 blocks. Janae Semsch and Katie Chouinard each had 2 kills. Haley Hastie had 1 kill.

  Katie Chouinard made 12 digs. Shelby Garrigus made 11 digs. Haley Hastie made 9 digs. Shannon Carver and Teresa Zielinski each made 5 digs. Bree Renner and Janae Semsch each made 3 digs.

  Bree Renner served 5 aces. Katie Chouinard served 2 aces. Teresa Zielinski served 1 ace.

  Katie Chouinard led the Lady Vikes with 12 assists. Haley Hastie had 5 assists. Janae Semsch had 3 assists. Shannon Carver, Shelby Garrigus, Bree Renner, and Teresa Zielinski each had 1 assist.

  Midway defeated Appleton City 25-10 and 25-13 in the JV match.

  Hannah Mills and Jennifer Gorsage each had 3 kills. Tesa Renner had 2 kills. Breann Barnes had 1 kill.

  Alyson Chapman made 3 digs, and she had 1 assist. Tesa Renner had 4 assists. Breann Barnes and Jennifer Gorsage each had 1 assist.

  Hannah Mills served 8 aces. Breann Barnes served 6 aces. Jennifer Gorsage served 4 aces. Tesa Renner served 2 aces, and Cathleen DeRemer served 1 ace.

  Midway was defeated 19-25, 25-19, and 11-25 in the junior high "A" match. Paige Kurzweil served 5 aces.


The JH "B" Lady Vikings defeated Appleton City 25-13, 18-25, and 25-8. Joanna Massey served 12 aces in the "B" match. 
Midway will host Rich Hill on Thursday, October 16. The varsity Lady Vikes will play Saturday, October 18 in the Western Missouri Conference Tournament at Drexel.

  Next week Midway's varsity hosts Hogan Prep on October 21 (Senior/Parents Nite). Midway wraps up the regular season on the road at Pembroke Hill on October 23.

  The MSHSAA Class 1 District 14 Tournament will be held at Cass Midway October 27 and October 29. The participating teams are Cass Midway, Drexel, Archie, Miami, Heartland Academy and Ballard.
